BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A 6-year-old Midfield boy who was attacked by a pit bill is recovering at Children's Hospital Saturday morning. The boy and his 6-year-old cousin were playing Thursday in this back yard on Wesley Drive when a neighbor's Pit Bull charged at them, NBC13 reported. The Pit Bull grabbed and mauled the boy. The boy's uncle came to the rescue but received wounds to both arms, resulting in many stitches.
Midfield police told NBC13 that the dog's owner was charged with violation of the Leash Law. The police said the owner was in court earlier this week answering to the same charge.
The Pit Bull also attacked officer Brad Cotton. Cotton shot and killed the dog.
