NewsChannel 19's Carson Clark Reports,
A Marshall County girl is in Children's Hospital in Birmingham after a pit bull attacked her Wednesday night in Albertville.
Police say three-year-old Cameron Cox was with her dad at a home on Cottage Avenue. The pit bull was kept in the garage. Police say the dog managed to get inside the house, and Cameron saw the dog and screamed. The dog immediately attacked, grabbing her abdomen.
Cameron's dad and the owner were able to get the dog off her, and Cameron was rushed to Marshall Medical Center South. She was then sent to Children's Hospital.
Cameron has wounds to her stomach, and doctors are afraid the dog's teeth may have punctured the her stomach. She is, however, expected to recover.
The owner of the dog took it into the backyard and shot it. Albertville police have sent the dog's remains to be tested for rabies.
